We are half way through the school year and the weather’s been great! Fall was warm, winter cold, and all is normal. The school year has also been good. We just finished exams last week and I am pretty satisfied with my exam marks. My overall marks are majestic, and I am quite satisfied with them.
Studying; everyone’s groan-factor. For studying, we are given a review sheet of all the things we have done up until that point. When I study, I read over everything and make notes. I also study with music on; it helps me remember. I can’t study in complete silence. I need music, but there can not be any talking or voices I can hear.
Being halfway through the year, its’s pretty awesome. Summer is near and swimming is on everyone’s mind. I can’t wait for summer and the warmer weather. I’m so sick of the cold. The first part of the year goes by pretty slow. The second half of the year goes by a lot faster. As soon as March break passes, it’s like 100 kilometers an hour from there!
Another part of the first half of the year that was great was our family trip to Las Vegas, Nevada. This isn’t at all school related, but still awesome and mention-worthy nonetheless. While we were there, we did tons of things; more than the average family. A cool thing we saw was the Hoover Dam. Sounds boring, yes, and it was; for the most part. It’s a great thing to see while you’re there though. I’m glad we didn’t miss it. Did you know that it took 5 (1931-1936) years to build? Also, did you know that about 4000 tourists visit Hoover Dam EVERYDAY?! That is more people than we have in our whole town!
Another great thing we saw was a magic show. Put on by Nathan Burton, and special guest Jeff Civillico, the show was hilarious and stunning.
If you’re into cars, you would have loved the car shows we saw. One was the Celebrity Cars Show, and the other was a Ferrari Showroom. The first was the best; we saw a few Lamborghini’s and some other fancy cars. It was even cool to me, who is not at all interested in that kind of thing.
The last thing I would like to mention (definitely not the last interesting thing!) is the band shoes we saw at the Hard Rock Cafe. I’m a huge music person and I found this ridiculously cool to see. The shoes on left were worn by Matt Sanders of Avenged Sevenfold from the 2008 “Taste Of Chaos” tour. The shoes on the left were worn by Michael Frisby of blessthefall, also worn in 2008 at the “Taste Of Chaos” tour.
Besides the point of Las Vegas, we have touched recently on six word stories. They originated a magazine asked some authors to write short stories rather than long ones; six word stories to be exact. We were asked to write a six word story on our outlook of the first half of the school year. This is mine:
“Different, interesting; like snow in July.”
